Dr. Fairfield T. Bain

Dr. Fairfiled BainDr. Fairfield T. Bain is a native of Wakefield, Virginia. He received his BS in Animal Science at North Carolina State University (1979), a DVM from Auburn University (1983), and an MBA from New York Institute of Technololgy (2005). He did an Internship in Large Animal Medicine & Surgery at NC State (1983-1984), a residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine at the University of Florida (1984-1986), and a residency in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology at Kansas State University (1988-1991). He has worked as an internist at Peterson & Smith Equine Hospital in Ocala, Florida (1986-1988) and at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Kentucky (1995-2006), Woodside Equine Clinic in Ashland, Virginia, and currently at Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery in Weatherford TX. His interests include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, equine perinatology, ultrasound, equine cardiology, hematology and cytology of the horse, and skin diseases.He is board-certified in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (1990), the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (1994), and the American College of Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care (1996).

He also is actively involved in hyperbaric medicine, serving as Medical Advisor of Veterinary Hyperbaric Oxygen (VHO), a manufacturer and distributor of hyperbaric chambers for animals, and is a member of the Veterinary Hyperbaric Medicine Society and the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (human).
